Interior design is a practice concerned with anything that is found inside a space - walls, windows, doors, finishes, textures, light, furnishings and furniture. Students will develop a project through the stages of modeling, lighting, texturing, and rendering to create a presentation drawing.WORKSHOPS & STUDY TOUR Various workshops and study tours will be organized for the students during every semester to familiarize the students with various design forms and design techniques. The workshops can be taken by students as per their interests as a class. The proposed workshops are:Colours and Textile printing Clay and Pottery Photography Metal and Jewellery Glass Wood And wood sculpting Study tours would be organized within the city as well as outside at various times to expose the students to the actual market as well as the historic places. Students are also expected to take interest in market surveys and develop their observation power & analysis. Suggestions from students would also be welcome. MAKING PORTFOLIOS As the course progresses the students would be making their presentations in various subjects.These presentations would be in the form of drawings, sketches, models collages, case studies etc., using different materials and techniques.The best presentations from these would be compiled in their portfolios in the form of sheets or photographs. This portfolio would then go through a final presentation procedure and would represent the students design skills when he/she steps into the practical field. It could be in the form of a soft copy or a hard copy. CAREER PROSPECTS The career prospects in the field of INTERIOR DESIGN are vast and ever increasing. Both in India and foreign countries more people are getting exposed to the idea of designer spaces to specifically suit their needs. The students, after completing their course, can start their own practice, but it is advised that they work with a senior designer or a design firm before establishing themselves, to gain a first hand experience of the market and its language.INIFD will be recommending its students as trainees to various big names in the world of design like Karan Grover, Adifys designs, Elephant designs, Pantaloons and the likes. Alternative careers in specific areas of interiors can also be pursued if a student possesses the skills for it.
